My name is Matt Griffiths, I'm based in Cheshire, and for over a decade I've been collecting Modern British art. It's become a genuine passion — building a collection that reflects the creativity and character I love in this period of British painting.

L.S. Lowry's influence runs through the work of many of the artists I collect, and it's a connection several of them have spoken about themselves. His distinctive style — industrial landscapes and the daily lives of working people, rendered with such simple, powerful imagery — has left a mark on the whole tradition that followed him, and it's part of what drew me to this area of collecting in the first place.

Over the years I've been lucky enough to meet a number of the artists whose work I own, and hearing directly from them about a piece adds something no amount of research can. Art is meant to be lived with and talked about, and I enjoy nothing more than swapping notes with other people who feel the same way about it.
